You are invited to explore new work from a small but distinguished group including Bonnie Baker; Alex Colville; Cecil Day; Bob Hainstock; Kristiina Lehtonen; John Neville; Steven Rhude; Kath Kornelsen Rutherford; Robert Rutherford, and Anna Syperek. The show opens February 14th and runs until March 13th, 2014. In the world of art not all prints are created equal. Boy on a Wharf, o/c, 20" x 16", Steven Rhude Take a Closer Look Around: Local-Figure & Interior Painting Class with Steven Rhude begins March 23 Acadia University Art Gallery http://gallery.acadiau.ca/Acadia_Art_Gallery/Outreach.html This indoor workshop approaches the figure in its environment through photographic sources, memory, and process observation. The first class will be devoted to a field trip around Wolfville to attain source material for the following seven weeks. Our purpose is to develop the ability to see, perceive, inscribe, and translate experience as it relates to the subject of the figure in situ. Various systems of representation will be studied over eight sessions. Oil painting techniques will also be explored such as under painting, glazing, alla prima (direct painting), to expand the students understanding of the expressive potential of oil paint. Date and Time: Mondays, 7-9pm, March 23, 2015 – May 11, 2015 (8 weeks)
